An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan has sentenced more than 15 years in prison in a terrorism financing case for the man behind the deadly 2008 Mumbai attacks.
“An anti-terrorism court in Lahore earlier this month sentenced Sajid Majeed Mir, a banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) activist, to 15 years in prison for a terrorist financing case,” a law Senior professor involved in terrorist funding cases of LeT and Jamaat-ud-Dawa leaders told PTI on Friday.

Mumbai attack campaign commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi was also sentenced to several years in prison. Both Saeed and Maki are also in Kot Lapkhapt prison in Lahore.
Saeed, a United Nations-designated terrorist for which the US had placed a $10 million bounty, was arrested in July 2019 in terrorism financing cases.
Saeed-led JuD is the front organization of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) responsible for the 2008 Mumbai attacks that killed six Americans.
The US Treasury Department has designated Saeed a Specially Designated Global Terrorist.
Global terrorist financing watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF) was instrumental in pushing Islamabad to take measures against terrorists roaming freely in Pakistan and using its territory. them to carry out attacks in India.
FATF put Pakistan on the gray list in June 2018 and asked Islamabad to implement an action plan to curb money laundering.
