2023 Mazda CX-60 diesel output confirmed

The company confirmed the specifications of the e-Skyactiv D and Skyactiv-D 3.3-liter turbo-diesel inline six that will be in the new one CX-60 Premium mid-size SUV.

Skyactiv-D production 170kW power from 4000 to 4200 rpm and 500Nm torque from 1500 to 3000 rpm.

E-Skyactiv D, including a 48V mild hybrid system, produces more power and torque: 187kW at 3750 rpm and 550Nm between 1500 and 2400 rpm.

Pre-orders are already open for the CX-60 in Europe ahead of its northern fall launch.

The CX-60 will arrive here through the end of 2022, with pricing and specifications to be announced closer to launch.

Mazda Australia has yet to confirm what powertrain will be offered on the upcoming CX-60 other than the petrol plug-in hybrid, but has said Full range of engines on the table.

It’s not clear whether Mazda Australia has chosen to bring this less powerful engine here, which is said to upset the CX-60’s position relative to a similarly sized but more popular model. CX-5 That is also available with 2.5 liters.

Outputs are yet to be confirmed for the new 3.0-liter inline-six petrol engine.

In the Skyactiv-D guise, the CX-60 weighs 1900kg while the PHEV weighs more than 2050kg.

The first has a claimed 0-100km/h time of 7.3 seconds, while the second has a sprint time of 5.8 seconds.

Selectable driving modes include Normal, Sport, Off-Road and Towing, along with an EV mode in the PHEV.

The CX-60 measures 4740mm long, 1890mm wide and 1685mm tall on a 2870mm wheelbase.

That makes it 190 mm longer, 50 mm wider and 10 mm taller than the CX-5 with a 170 mm longer wheelbase.

It is also 32mm longer, 1mm narrower, and 9mm taller than BMW X3 on a 6mm longer wheelbase.

All engine variants of the CX-60 will be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with a multi-disc clutch and an integrated engine/generator in place of a hydraulic converter as the input clutch.

All-wheel drive is provided by a new system that uses an electronically controlled multi-disc clutch.

Under the skin is a double wishbone front suspension with upper and lower control arms, as well as a rear multi-link design.

Inside, the CX-60 will get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and head-up display. ups.

In the PHEV version, it has 477L of cargo space behind the second row of seats, measured by the straps, though the addition of an additional underfloor storage raises that to 570 liters.

This architecture has been developed for both front- and all-wheel drive vehicles with transverse engines, as well as rear- or all-wheel drive vehicles – such as the CX-60 – with longitudinal engines.

It’s separate from Mazda’s upcoming Skyactiv Scalable Electric Vehicle Architecture, the first of which will launch in 2025.

Mazda is targeting 25% of its vehicles to be purely electric by 2030, while all vehicles will have “some degree” of electrification.

Previously, the company confirmed the CX-60 will join with a three-row version called the CX-80, designed for markets like Japan and Europe.

Also using the new rear/all-wheel drive system will be the two-row CX-70 and the wider three-row CX-90, designed with the US market in mind.

Since we received in Australia two three-row Mazda SUVs – one designed for Japan (CX-8) and one designed for the United States (CX-9) – maybe we can have multiple models on this architecture. Mazda Australia has said it is looking at all four options.

According to Mazda Australia marketing director Alastair Doak, don’t assume that Mazda’s upcoming SUVs will immediately end the current models like the CX-8 and CX-9.

That suggests new Grand Architecture models could be sold alongside existing models, at least for a while.
