2023 Nissan Qashqai price and specifications

Nissan announced pricing for important new products Qashqai small SUV ahead of launch later this year, with prices starting at $33,890 before shipping costs.

It appears to be a widely improved product in terms of performance, specs, safety and design – but buyers will pay more for the privilege.

Designed in Europe and manufactured in the UK, the third generation of Nissan’s compact SUV line-up is a significant update on its predecessor – Sold out now.

Nissan Australia previously said the new Qashqai will arrive in early 2022 revealed in February 2021.

The new Qashqai will be one of four brand new models present at around 180 Nissan Australia dealers in the second half of this year, the rest are new dealers Z coupe, X-Trail Midsize SUV and Pathfinder Large SUV.

That means that from 2023, Nissan Australia will go from one of the oldest product lines among major brands to one of the newest.

Engine

The new engine is a 1.3 liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline do 110kW energy (5500 rpm) and 250Nm torque (1600-3750 rpm), front-wheel drive via the ‘X-Tronic’ CVT transmission.

It comes standard with a stop/start feature and three throttle-response steering modes; called Sport, Normal and Eco.

These numbers are up 4kW and 50Nm over the 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine that powered the old model. Its towing capacity also increased by 300kg, to 1500kg.

While not available at launch, the new Qashqai will also be the first Nissan in Australia to offer an e-Power hybrid powertrain, in which a gasoline-powered generator drives the electric motor, which in turn drives the wheels.

Qashqai e-Power is expected to launch in 2023.

Energy saving

Despite offering more power and torque, the new Qashqai’s miniature turbo engine uses less gasoline: 6.1 liters per 100km in a combined cycle test.

However, it requires premium 95 RON gasoline.

The fuel tank holds 55 liters.

Safety

New Qashqai five-star management in the Euro NCAP test (2021) will move to ANCAP.

It scores 91% for both adult and child protection, 70% for vulnerable passerby protection, and a very high 95% for safety assist features.

Service and Warranty

Nissan offers a five-year warranty, roadside assistance, and limited-price service.

We’re waiting for pricing on the latter, although we know the period will be 12 months or 15,000 km.

Size

New Qashqai Measures 4425mm Long, 1835mm wide (without mirror), 1625mm high and use 2665mm The standard long.

This makes the car 31mm longer, 29mm wider and 30mm taller than the old car, with a 19mm longer wheelbase.

The new Qashqai weighs between 1451kg and 1524kg (curb) depending on the spec type, for a total vehicle weight of 1985kg.

Trunk capacity is rated at 429 liters (418L for the Ti due to its audio system) with five seats in use, expanding to 1524-1513L with the rear seats folded. This main figure matches the 430L capacity of the old car.

Ground clearance is listed as 180mm, and revs are 11.1m.

Suspension wise, the new Qashqai uses a MacPherson strut setup up front and a multi-link independent rear suspension. Electric park brakes are standard.
