pray for you acne gone but they keep on visiting you over and over again and that’s in the same place? Do not worry! There are a few reasons why it happens and once you figure it out you can avoid it and the previous points will hit the mark healing time.
Do you have oily skin or clogged pores?
In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr Rohit Batra, Dermatologist and dermatological surgeon at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, explains: “Having oily skin means having more sebaceous glands. your sebum is overactive and produces more sebum than usual, which clogs the skin pores and leads to blackheads, whiteheads and even cysts when sebum combines with skin cells dead and dirt. Your T-zone is more prone to this. A good cleanser can remove excess oil and exfoliate the face can help unclog pores but remember not to overdo anything. Choose a cleanser and scrub according to your skin type.”
Habit of touching your face often?
Dr Batra revealed: “The environment exposes you to dirt, microorganisms, polluted air, oil, etc. All of these are bad for your skin. You touch everything around you and then repeatedly touch your face whether it’s from stress, wiping sweat, or letting your hair get in your face. All of that will lead to the transfer of bacteria and oil to the pores of your skin. This will cause your skin to break out. So next time make sure your hands are properly cleaned before touching your face because you are always touching the same part of your face again and again.”
Period acne is real!
According to Dr. Prasoon Soni, Dermatologist at Dr Prasoon’s Dermacastle in Rajasthan’s Bikaner, “Hormonal changes take place strongly during menstruation. Androgen activates your sebaceous glands, and it usually shows up on your lower cheeks, jawline, chin, and neck. Seeing a doctor can help. They will provide a suitable treatment or therapy that can act as a male hormone inhibitor to help you with hormonal acne.”
Cysts disguised as pimples.
“Hormonal imbalances can have many causes,” says Dr. Prasoon. It can be due to stress, unhealthy lifestyle, unclean habits, etc. Distorted androgen levels can cause hormonal cysts. Cysts are deeper than pimples and have a longer healing time. In cysts, inflammation occurs repeatedly due to excess oil and bacteria build-up, and leads to scarring. If these cysts are not drained properly, they will recur. Also, while turning them on, bacteria can be smeared to new locations adjacent to previous sites. Blue light therapy is currently being used to treat acne.”
Dr Batra adds: “Acne on the face or any other part of the body can be bothersome. Unravel the cause or seek professional help to know the cause and find a solution for flawless skin. Usually, the mistakes most people make is to treat acne themselves at home using random products or applying homemade packs. See a certified dermatologist if you have recurrent acne and get it treated promptly. Don’t wait until the situation gets worse.”
