Airtel launches credit card partnership with Axis . bank


Bharti Airtel and Axis Bank on Monday announced a partnership to provide financial services, starting with a co-branded credit card for the telecom service company’s subscribers. Under the partnership, the companies will offer pre-approved instant loans, ‘buy now pay later’ services and others. This partnership will provide Axis Bank support for deeper penetration into tier 2 and 3 markets, a statement said.

Bharti Airtel Managing Director and Managing Director for India and South Asia, said Gopal Vittal Airtel is building a financial services portfolio as part of its efforts to deliver world-class digital services to its clients.

“We are delighted to join forces with Axis Bank on this exciting journey. Through this mutually beneficial telecom banking partnership, Airtel customers will gain access to Axis Bank’s world-class financial services portfolio and exclusive benefits, while Axis Bank will enjoy benefit from Airtel’s strong digital capabilities and extensive distribution reach,” he said.

The partnership began with the launch of the ‘Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card’ that promises cashbacks and special discounts to customers.

The credit card will only be available to eligible Airtel customers through the Airtel Thanks app.

“Axis Bank will also utilize various cybersecurity services from Airtel. In the future, companies will further explore collaboration on Cloud and Data Center services,” the statement added.

In addition, Axis Bank will leverage Airtel’s messaging, video, streaming, call masking and virtual contact center solutions to enhance digital capabilities.

“This partnership will help expand access to credit and various digital financial services from Axis Bank to Airtel’s 340 million customers.

“On the other hand, we will take advantage of Airtel’s broad reach and services, magnetic mobility and DTH CARD to pay utility bills gives our customers the opportunity to maximize value,” said Axis Bank MD and CEO Amitabh Chaudhry.
