Nvidia, AMD, and Intel all made PC graphics-related revelations for today’s Consumer Electronics Show presentations, and as expected, the latter showcased more of its Arc GPUs while the former two showed off more of their Arc GPUs. introduces a variety of graphics cards that will hit the market soon (though who’s to say if buying them would be easier).
CES is an annual technology-focused conference where all kinds of electronics companies announce new products for the mass market and for those more interested in experimental ideas. It is somewhere Samsung has announced its new 2022 TV series will have Stadia, Nvidia GeForce Now, NFT support and integration, and that’s also where Nvidia, AMD, and Intel pull back the curtain on some of the much-rumored GPUs.
Let’s talk to Nvidia. The company announced two new GPUs, the RTX 3050 and RTX 3090 Ti. The RTX 3050 is the company’s most budget GPU, priced at just $249 and capable of features like raytracing and DLSS. It has nine shaders-TFLOPS, 18 RT-TFLOPS, 73 Tensor-TFLOPS, 8GB G6 and it will be available for purchase later this month on January 27.
The RTX 3090 Ti is Nvidia’s new flagship GPU, and while the company is simply teasing it, we have some additional details regarding it, thanks The Verge.
This new card will include 24GB of GDDR6X running at 21 gigabytes per second, the same amount of VRAM as the standard 3090 but nearly 8% faster in terms of memory clocks. The Verge writes that this will provide additional performance gains for 4K and AI gaming tasks. The card will also have 40 teraflops of GPU performance, 11% faster than the 3090’s 36 teraflops, and an additional 78 teraflops for ray tracing and 320 teraflops for AI tasks. That’s a lot of failures.
Nvidia has not revealed a price for the new 3090 Ti, nor has it revealed a release window for it. Considering the 3090 runs for around $1499 (when you don’t look at the reseller-set prices), this 3090 Ti will almost certainly be more expensive. The Verge reports that Nvidia says more details about this new card will be revealed later this month.
The company also announced the new RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti laptops.
On the AMD front, the company has unveiled its new Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card, which features a “groundbreaking AMD RDNA 2 architecture” and is “designed to deliver superb gaming performance and exceptional efficiency.” . AMD says the clock speed of the 6500 XT is one of the fastest in a gaming card, with 16 complete units and ray accelerators, 305 gigabytes per second effective bandwidth with AMD Infinity Cache, 4GB GDDR6 and game clocks as fast as 2610 MHz. Designed to be a budget GPU for desktops, this card will hit the market on January 19 for a price tag of $199.
AMD also unveiled the new RX 6000S series of chips for gaming laptops. This chip will come in three designs: RX 6600S, RX 6700S and RX6800S. The prices of these chips and related laptops were not disclosed, nor are the release dates.
And finally, Intel revealed that it’s currently shipping Intel Arc GPUs, aka Intel’s Alchemist GPUs, to laptop and desktop makers. Sadly, there’s no word on when players will be able to get their hands on these, but at least it looks like we’re inching closer to that date. Intel says its Arc GPUs will feature ray tracing and XeSS, the company’s own AI-based supersampling.
Intel also revealed that Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, a game previously exclusive to the PlayStation 5, is coming to PC, and it will use Intel’s XeSS supersampling technology to underpin it. You can read more about that announcement here.
