Arc Champ Torquator Tasso Retired With Auenquelle
Torquator Tasso (Ger) (Adlerflug {Ger} –Tijuana {Ger}, of Toylsome {GB}), the 2021 G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe hero, has retired. As announced earlier, the chestnut will be at the Gestut Auenquelle location. Linkion was originally thinking about starting in the G1 Japan Cup, but chose to let athlete Marcel Weiss retire.
Weiss confirmed: “We are grateful that he has enjoyed such a stellar career and that he is back safe and normal. We always said that he would retire if he played well.
“Frankie can’t go forward so fast, otherwise Tasso will have nothing left at the end of the race. He went according to plan and did everything right.
“He’s been the horse of a lifetime and deserves a long and happy career at the school.”
As a G1 Grosser Preis von Berlin winner as a sophomore in 2020, PH Vandeberg hybrid rider for €24,000 BBAG Graduation Semi-Mixed October will enjoy his best year on the track at the age of four. A colorist for Gestut Auenquelle, he added the G2 Hansa Preis before the second to next run as the heroine of Arc 2022 Alpinista (GB) (Frankel {GB}) in G1 Grosser Preis von Berlin, before his hero Arc took place at 71-1.
Across the board in four of his five starting this semester, he won G2 Grosser Hansa-Preis, ahead of a second-place attempt in G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth S. and returned to Germany in G1 Grosser Preis von Baden. The half-brother to Group 3 winner Tunnes (Ger) (Guiliani {Ire}) ended his career with a close third in the Arc ahead of Alpinista and Vadeni (Fr) (Churchill {Ire}), and retired with a 16-6-5-2 mark and an income of $4,737,917.
