Arsenal’s Marcelo Flores is on the list of Mexico for friendlies and Nations League matches
MexicoThe men’s national team has released a list of 38 men who will participate in three friendlies and two CONCACAF Nations League matches through mid-June.
On the list is 18 years old Arsenal academy player Marcelo FloresWho Officially joined the Mexican national team a day before Tuesday’s listing.

Also eligible for Canada and EnglandFlores confirms her allegiance to El Tri after sharing a Twitter post that read: “I will represent Mexico wholeheartedly for the rest of my professional life.” The attacking midfielder has made two appearances for Mexico but has yet to earn a place in the squad or even a few minutes of official play under coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino.
LA Galaxy two countries Julian Araujo also included in the latest call. Originally representing USA At youth level, Araujo was part of a provisional roster to win the 2021 Gold Cup for the senior USA team before announcing in October 2021 that he had moved to Mexico. The 20-year-old right-back has since made two appearances for El Tri.
People of dual nationality David Ochoa (Real salt lake), Jonathan Gomez (Real Sociedad Band Alejandro Zendejas (Club America) were dropped from the current squad after being recently included in Mexico’s previous roster for a friendly last month.

Martino’s latest lineup also features the return of national team veterans, including Guillermo Ochoa, Andres Guardado, Hector Moreno, Hector Herrera, Raul Jimenez and Jesus “Tecatito” Corona.
El Tri formal Hirving “Chucky” Lozano and Rogelio Funes Mori was said to have been disqualified due to injury concerns.
Mexico will have a busy series of games including friendly matches against the United States with Nigeria on May 28 in Arlington, Texas; Uruguay on June 2 in Glendale, Arizona; and Ecuador on June 5 in Chicago. After finishing, El Tri will then begin their Nations League 2022-23 campaign at home with Suriname on June 11th and go against Jamaica on June 14.
Participation in the upcoming Liga MX final next week will delay the arrival of at least a few calls from either Pachuca (Kevin Alvarez, Luis Chavez, Erick Sanchez), Club America (Ochoa, Jorge Sanchez, Henry Martin) or Tigres (Jesus Angulo, Sebastian Cordova), who is still in the playoffs.
Later this year, Mexico has an additional friendly match scheduled with Paraguay on August 31 in Atlanta. According to TUDN’s Gibran Araige, Mexico could also face Brazil and Peru in California friendlies this September in Pasadena and Santa Clara.
