As “Taliban-style attack” Words of BJP MLA, Supreme Court orders Tripura

The law and order situation in Tripura is getting worse in the race to citizen polls despite the Supreme Court’s order, the Trinamool Congress went to court today in a copy petitions alleging disregard for the state government. Citing violence against its political leaders and workers before the polls, the party has asked the court to take action against state officials. The court today asked the Tripura government for clarification on a speech made by a BJP MLA where he allegedly called for violence against Trinamool leaders in “Taliban Style”.
“Did the MLA give that speech? If so, were there any actions taken against him?” asked the bench of Judges DY Chandrachud and Vikram Nath.
On August 18, Tripura BJP MLA Arun Chandra Bhowmik allegedly asked party employees to attack Trinamool leaders “Taliban style”. The plaintiffs raised the issue of this speech in court today.
Appearing for the government, senior supporter Mahesh Jethmalani said the MLA had been called for questioning. “I don’t think the speech incites violence. The petitioners are making mountains out of moles,” he added.
Calling the situation “very serious”, senior campaigner Jaideep Gupta, representing the Trinamool Congress, said police were there, “but did nothing”.

“The security situation was so bad that CPM even withdrew the candidate,” he added.
“We don’t want an argument right now. We just want to add a police presence,” Justice DY Chandrachud said, asking the state government to consider deploying more battalions of the force. central paramilitary force for protection.
