Bailiff Beef: Officer ‘Judy Judge’ Petri Hawkins Byrd Replaced Without Warning After 25 Years | News
Judge Judy made her decision: Officer Byrd was out.
Petri Hawkins Byrd, Judge Judy’s longtime guarantor was not asked to continue serving as Judge Judy’s courtroom staff when Judy Sheindlin’s new program, Judy Justice, premieres November 1 on IMDB TV.
Byrd said Weekly entertainment that he has been removed from discussions regarding the new show. He has served as Sheindlin’s bailiff since Judge Judy premiered in 1996.
“My assumption was that if you were going to do something else, you would at least ask me if I wanted the chance to audition for the part,” Byrd said.
Byrd there’s obviously no loop about the new program. He learned about Judy Justice when Sheindlin made the announcement about The Ellen DeGeneres Show in March 2020.
During the pandemic, Sheindlin worked for Judge Judy from New York while Byrd and the production team were in Los Angeles. The show, in its 25th and final season, ended in April.
At that point, Byrd was completely focused on his wife, Makita Bond-Byrd, who was scheduled to have brain surgery to remove the tumor and had just completed her third round of chemotherapy. The agency said 95% of the tumors were successfully removed.
He said, “It wasn’t until July that I called the judge and asked, ‘Hey, should I look for something else or should I be included in the Judy Justice project?'” And she informed him. He said that he was “not asked to be on the project. “
Sheindlin told him his salary would be too high, even though he had no chance to accept a pay cut.
“I’m like if I did something wrong or insulted you or brought shame on the show, or if I got involved in countless scandals in the 25 years we’ve been together, I can see why. in the end you don’t want to bother,” Byrd said.
Sheindlin, who has a new bailiff scheduled to replace Byrd, released a statement about Byrd’s removal: “Byrd has been fantastic and we’ve had a great 25 years to come. is a brand new show with a whole new cast and exciting energy.”
Byrd seems to be moving forward very quickly as he is looking for new opportunities. So far, he has appeared in the daytime soap opera Bold and beautiful, based on TV insider. He played a married pastor with a married couple in the August 5 episode. He also did voice acting.
