“Me, sometimes I will have to sit and fight. With someone like Benavidez, he’s going to be very hard for anyone to beat,” Shakur Stevenson said fightwhen asked for his thoughts on tonight’s game between David Benavidez and Caleb Plant.
“His style is relentless. You have to box and smash. Sometimes you have to box and smash and then go back to boxing and pounding. You have to win on both sides of that.
“I think it will be a great game, and I can’t wait to see it. No predictions. I’m just watching as a fan,” Shakur said.
“I am feeling good. “The energy is good, the weight is just right, and I just feel relaxed in an even boat, ready to rock,” says Caleb Plant. Behind the Gloves about tonight’s battle.
“Yes, I feel focused, I feel balanced, I feel confident and I still say my profanities. I said everything I wanted to say and needed to say, but that’s not how he is [Benavidez] will continue if he thinks I don’t want to get into a screaming contest with him who is the bigger b**ch or something silly like that.
“If I didn’t mingle with him, then I would be scared, but it’s not my style to be in a screaming contest with some stupid **. Since 2017 or 2018,” Plant said when asked how long he had worked with Benavidez.
“It’s been going on for a while and I’m ready to let things go. I’m ready to raise my hand. I worked incredibly hard, not just in these camps. I don’t wait for the big moment to come to me before I do the right thing. I’ve done everything right all my life and I’m ready to fight.
“Like I said above, he’s a good fighter, and that’s why I’m interested in this. I’m not interested in fighting the bad guys. I don’t care about fighting. You let him say it; I’m a bum and all this.
How to see Plant versus Benavidez?
Boxing fans can watch Caleb Plant take on David Benavidez for his WBC interim super middleweight title tonight on Showtime PPV, starting at 9:00pm ET/6:00pm PT.
“He knows it’s not right. I don’t want to lie in front of the camera because I know the truth. He’s a good fighter and that’s why I love fighting. Not just for the fans and push boxing forward but for my own legacy, most importantly.
“We know what we have in front of us, but he knows better than what he has in front of us. The biggest thing I learned from the game against Canelo was the experience.
“Experience is not something you can buy. You have to go to the fire to get it. I did that. I did it gracefully, and I went out with my shield [in 11th round knockout loss to Canelo Alvarez in November 2021 in their undisputed super middleweight championship bout in Las Vegas].
“I went right back and showed it just because things didn’t go my way. A lot of times, a loss can make or break a boxer. I showed it, but at any point in my life, any time like that, I’ll come back better; I will come back stronger and sharper.
“I did it against [Anthony] Dirrell and [tonight], you will see the best Caleb Factory. Not so much,” Plant said when asked if he questioned himself after his loss to Canelo and considered some people around him to be bad for him.
“A few changes have been made to the team, but I am only interested in moving forward with those guys. I feel grateful for everyone I’ve got on my team. Some things work, some things don’t, and that shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, but sometimes that’s how the dice roll.
“I have a great team, and I just look forward to rolling with them and getting my hands up and being the interim champion and moving forward bigger and better.
“Just tuned in, directly on pay-per-view. Boxing fans have been asking for big fights like these. David and I raised the end of the couch to give you that, and now it’s time for the fans to do their part. Tune in, buy that pay-per-view and put it on a show,” Plant said.
