Bob Tasca III, ‘here making some real horsepower,’ tops NHRA Funny Car qualifying in Kansas
TOPEKA, Kan. – Bob Tasca III topped the Funny Car qualifier for Saturday’s second consecutive event at Menards NHRA Nationals at Heartland Motorsports Park.
Tasca’s sixth run of 3,930 seconds at 323.81 mph in a Ford Mustang secured his career #1 spot.
“That track was very good and this atmosphere was difficult to make power, but this Mustang showed them that we are here making some real horsepower,” said Tasca. Hats for boys, but I’ll tell you one thing, we have a yellow color [No. 1 qualifier] hat in Seattle, and we can’t exchange it for a blue hat [winner’s] hat. Tomorrow, we’d like to exchange this for a green hat. “
Mike Salinas took 1st place in Top Fuel, Greg Anderson in Pro Stock and Joey Gladstone in Pro Stock Motorcycle.
Salinas, a four-time winner this year, had 3,754 at 323.19 on Friday. Anderson took his second consecutive No. 1 and 120th overall with his sixth run of 6,623 at 205.44 in a Chevrolet Camaro. Gladstone has 6,831 at 195.08 on a Suzuki, which is also Friday.
