Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen in the walking warm-up after losing to the Bucs; Tests set for Monday
Tampa, Fla. – Buffalo Bills midfielder Josh Allen walked into his post-game press conference with a walking boot on his bottom left foot after the previous team’s 33-27 loss Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Allen said he’s “not sure” what the injury is, but will have further tests on Monday. Bills calls it a foot injury.
“Finished the game on it, so I don’t think it’s going to be a big deal,” Allen said, adding that “it’s pretty sore. It’s football.”
Allen appeared to have picked up the injury at the end of the 23-yard run in the fourth round. He didn’t miss a moment but limped for the rest of the game, and it didn’t look like he was putting much weight on his feet.
“Our medical staff checked on him,” coach Sean McDermott said. “There’s been a lot of talk about what he’s like, what else he can do. He’s a fighter and he gave his all.”
Allen finished 36-54 in 308 yards with two touches and one interception. He also ran for 109 yards and hastily scored on 12 attempts, the third time in his career he has run more than 100 yards in a match.
Allen’s passing efforts were a career high and he became the first Bills player to have at least 250 yards pass and 100 yards forward in a game. Allen is also the only player in the past 40 seasons to make all of his teammates’ passes and dive in at half-time, according to research by the Elias Sports Bureau.
The Bills’ backup midfielder was formerly the number 2 choice Mitchell Trubisky.
“There’s no way I’m going out,” Allen said.
