Bus explosion in Northeast China leaves 1 dead, 42 injured
Beijing:
Public security officials said a bus exploded in northeast China on Saturday, killing one person and injuring dozens more.
Footage circulating online shows the vehicle on the side of the road with its windows shattered as debris is scattered around.
Witnesses said they heard a loud noise when the explosion occurred but the bus did not catch on fire, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
One person was killed by an explosion in Shenyang city, Liaoning province, while two others were seriously injured, according to a local police statement.
Another 40 people suffered “slight injuries”, Shenyang authorities said.
In another video clip that went viral on social media, people were seen sitting by the roadside near the bus after the explosion.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
