Carson Daly Recalls Death Fear at ’99 Woodstock Festival ‘Frazy’
Carson Daly remembering a terrifying period in the history of music.
After the release of the Netflix documentary Shipwreck: Woodstock ’99Carson recalls how it felt to host MTV’s Total number of direct requests at the Woodstock ’99 festival.
“All I can say is I think I’m going to die,” he wrote in one August 11th Instagram post.
Carson, 49, says it’s “a great start” as he interviews artists like Jay Kay of the Band Jamiroquai from the side of the main stage. But then they “started being filled with bottles, rocks, lighters, all,” he recalls.
Based on Rolling Stonethe event, which was a tribute to the original Woodstock festival in 1969, hosted more than 200,000 people in New York and ended in riots, violence, allegations of sexual assault and arson by attendees festival family.
“It gets crazy, fast,” Carson continued. “Nightfall, Lame play ‘Break Stuff’ and the inmates have officially run the prison. “
He explained that while unrest erupts, he can “recall feeling like I was in another country during a military conflict.”
