Chargefox fast charger pricing to 50%


Australia’s largest public electric vehicle charging network, Chargefoxis increasing prices at its fastest 350kW DC stations by 50%.

Launched in 2018 at $0.40 per kWh, the 350kW ultra-fast charger will cost $0.60 per kWh as of May 9, 2022.

The price increase brings Chargefox in line with the Evie network, which also charges $0.60 per kWh for 350kW charging.

“Prices for our super fast chargers (up to 350kW) were fixed back in 2018 at $0.40/kWh and have remained unchanged for almost 4 years since,” the company said in a statement. an email sent to the customer.

“When our introductory pricing period ends for these chargers on May 9, 2022, the charging fee will increase to $0.60 per kWh.”

Pricing for the Chargefox network’s 50kW charger will remain unchanged, and Australian motor club members (all of whom invest in Chargefox) will still receive discounts starting at 20%.

Buyers of some new electric cars are offered free charging as part of an agreement with the manufacturer; Those transactions are still maintained despite the price increase.

Chargefox says its network currently includes more than 1400 plugs and includes standard (22kW), fast (50kW) and ultrafast (350kW) AC chargers.

About 850 plugs are publicly sold, with 300 fast charge plugs and 22 ultra fast charge plugs.

Chargefox has announced that it will add another 4000 plugs to its network by the end of 2025, of which 2000 plugs will provide super-fast charging speeds of 50kW or 350kW.

It is one of five Australian companies to receive a share of Federal funding to build more than 400 electric cars. fast charging station.

Together, the five candidates are expected to deliver 403 new DC stations, each capable of simultaneously charging at least two vehicles. The delivery timeframe is still unclear.

The charging stations will be built across eight geographies including 14 of Australia’s most populous cities. These include all capitals and regional centers including Geelong, Newcastle, Wollongong and the Sunshine Coast.
