China reports second Omicron case ahead of Beijing Winter Olympics

State broadcaster CCTV said on Tuesday that health authorities in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou had detected an infection of the Omicron coronavirus variant.
The infected person, a 67-year-old man who entered China from abroad in November and flew to Guangzhou after quarantine last week, tested positive while he was isolated at home for city, according to CCTV.
The incident followed China’s first detection of Omicrons in the northern city of Tianjin, a person who had also arrived from abroad.
