Danielle Pinnock’s Body Positive Journey Ghost-inspired journey
Danielle Pinnock don’t say “Boo!” when Ghost creator Port Joe and Joe Wiseman was asked if they could join her real-life body positivity journey for part two.
Actress who played the deceased jazz singer of 1920s Alberta on CBS comedyrevealed that when the two hosts approached her to see if she would be comfortable exploring this storyline in the new season, her response was “Absolutely.”
The October 6 episode follows Alberta as she accepts a hard truth: She beat her rival Clara to move forward in her career. While this goes against everything she represents as a flamboyant troubadour, Alberta admits that turning on Clara is the only way she, a performer of all sizes, can have chance to shine.
However, Danielle did more than just portray this vulnerable story. As Danielle detailed, the Alberta monologue, where she declares she must be her own “noisiest fan,” stemmed from a conversation she had with friends program runner.
“We talked about that scene a lot,” she recalls. “They said, ‘What gives Alberta her confidence? And in this moment, we want to see her vulnerable.’ And I said to them, “For me personally, if I don’t ride or die for myself, no one else can be.”
