Danny Masterson’s rape case declared false

Masterson — whose acting credits include That’s 70 performances and Vampire 2000-to be arrested and charged in 2020 for three counts of rape by force or fear of three separate women on separate occasions between 2001 and 2003, according to records obtained by E! News.

In January 2021, Masterson asserted his innocence by plead not guilty for all three counts.

While Masterson is a member of the Church of Scientology, his accusers are former members who are no longer affiliated with the religion. According to the Associated Press, in the preliminary hearing In May 2021, a whistleblower said she didn’t initially report the charges against her Masterson to police for fear of being branded by the Church of Scientology as a “suppressor”.

Later that week during the preliminary hearing, Masterson’s attorney hinted in court that the prosecution had an anti-religious bias against the Church of Scientology. Karin Pouwa spokesman for the Church of Scientology, told LA Times at the time, “Church policy explicitly requires Scientists to comply with all laws of the country, including reporting crimes.”
