DC Fandome will not return this year

DC Fandome, the virtual fan convention that showcases DC’s movies, TV shows and, of course, video games, won’t take place this year, Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed.

The first DC Fandome took place in 2020, serving as a live-streaming alternative to post-pandemic live conventions. It features virtual dashboards with celebrities and filmmakers providing new announcements, trailers, and early looks at everything on DC media. In terms of video games, the 2020 and 2021 versions have given us a significant new look at Knight of Gotham and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

In a statement to PopverseWarner Bros. Discovery explains this decision by writing:

“With the return of live events, Warner Bros. Discovery is excited to be able to engage with our fans in person at multiple comics around the world and will not be scheduling DC FanDome for 2022.”

Fandome’s cancellation is an unfortunate blow in the ongoing transition from the Warner Bros./Discovery merger in April. Although only two years old, Fandome has achieved much success, earning millions of views. Last year’s show was marked by new trailers for Batman, Black Adamand The Flash. Unfortunately, the DC movie rankings have largely been derailed since then as a number of projects have been delayed (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Shazam! Fury of the Gods), in limbo (The Flash), or canceled (Bat girl).

While we won’t see them during the big DC event, Gotham Knights launches on October 21 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is coming sometime in 2023.
