De La Hoya says Rolly can beat Tank Davis
Via Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotion boss Oscar De La Hoya said he thinks Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero can beat WBA lightweight champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis in their bout next month on Showtime PPV on May 28. Davis vs. Rolly will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Without naming any, De La Hoya feels that someone is trying to take out Gervonta (26-0.24 KOs) by pitting him against knockout artist Rolly (14-0, 12 KOs) in this important competition.
De La Hoya suspects that since this is Tank’s last fight with Mayweather Promotions, they’re trying to get him defeated by Rolly, who also signed them.
If Rolly beats Tank, Mayweather Promotions will have a new moneymaker take over. That will help the blow to the famous 27-year-old Gervonta if Rolly beats him and becomes the company’s new PPV star.
Interestingly, boxing fans don’t give kt Rolly much of a chance to beat Davis despite the fact that he’s undefeated, arguably punches harder, and looks like an all-around heavyweight boxer inside the box. radio.
“Ricardo Mayorga was a three-time world champion when I played him,” Oscar De La Hoya told. Against TV Hub. “But I love Rolly, I love Tank. Tank is an extraordinary talent. Tanks will go a long way.
“The reality is that this was his last fight with Mayweather, and Mayweather did a tremendous job in motivating him,” continued De La Hoya. “There are rumors that he is leaving Mayweather, who knows?
“I really feel that someone out there is trying to beat the Tank by bringing him in with Rolly. So I don’t know what’s going on and what’s going on, but maybe because this is his last fight with Mayweather, they’re trying to beat him. “
If Tank has decided that he has no chance with Mayweather Promotions, it makes perfect sense for them to want him to lose to kt Rolly. Why don’t they want Rolly to beat Tank?
Rolly has made it clear that he has no intention of leaving Mayweather Promotions, and that loyalty must be touched. He stays with them until the bitter end whenever so.
What Rolly gives him is his clumsy style, his size, his strength and his youth. Currently, Rolly is still able to get over the 135 lb limit, but his days count towards the squad.
It could be Tank’s bad luck that he’s fighting Rolly while he’s still able to get past the 135 lb limit as this guy should be fighting at 147 for his size and strength.
Tank did a great job moving to 140 to dethrone WBA champion Mario Barrios, but that guy lacked Rolly’s strength, size, and toughness.
If Tank had to take shots from kt Rolly that Barrios bumped into him last June, he could be in trouble.
Boxing fans have probably forgotten that Floyd Mayweather Jr needed to go to Tank’s corner after the seventh round for an inspirational speech because he looked terrible against Barrios.
“I love that fight, I think it was a war of choice,” De La Hoya gives his views on the clash between Gervonta and kt Rolly on May 28.
“I think Tank is a tremendous talent, and I think Rolly has strength from the knee that comes from the knee. I think it’s absolute for boxing but I love that fight,” said De La Hoya.
