Dead Activision Blizzard the Microsoft franchise should bring back
The 2015 release of Guitar Hero: Live was the last we heard of the franchise. While Live did do some interesting things, it missed out on a lot of what made rock rhythm games so special in the first place. With Activision currently under the Xbox umbrella, there’s the chance for a special revival, and one only has to look at the current Guitar Hero community to see what’s needed: getting back into shape. People don’t care about realistic guitar chords while a music video plays in the background – they want an arcade guitar experience that prioritizes fun over realism.
Get rid of the black and white buttons and bring in everyone’s favorite combination of green, red, yellow, blue, and orange. Round up some modern rock anthems to play alongside the classics and toss “Through the Fire and Flames” for a good solution. Gives us a stylized look at the three original items and includes more ways than ever to customize the band. Add in a bit of star power and Xbox could easily get their hands on a new classic. – Wesley LeBlanc
