- The GMC Sierra EV will be revealed at 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 20, according to the brand’s social media accounts.
- This isn’t our first look at the electric Sierra—GMC teased its user interface—But now we know the first truck will be the Denali Edition 1.
- We hope Sierra EV will share core components with Chevy Silverado EV when the GMC version goes on sale in early 2024.
Trailers are a fun way for the automaker’s marketing department to build awareness and excitement ahead of the launch of a new model. Of course, said pattern usually has to be interesting or remarkable to really grab people’s attention. Luckily for GMC, the upcoming Sierra EV qualifies as notable, so today when the company posted a short video on its social media account, we took notice and learned that the pickup Electric will be revealed at 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 20.
Along with its trademark posts Facebook and Twitter page, GMC has announced the reveal details and more on its consumer site. The video itself is only 15 seconds long. And while the company released a teaser image of the Sierra EV’s front end last December, we’ll get a better look at its design and other details in the short clip. For example, a set of lower lights on the front bumper are now visible. Plus, we get our first look at the truck’s interior with a close-up of the material on its front seats and Denali embroidery on the headrest. Another Denali highlight is the badge on the tailgate next to one of the Sierra’s slim taillights. Another important detail we see is a large glass panel on the roof.
Even before this latest teaser, we knew the Sierra EV would offer a fancy Denali pants model. Because, duh, that’s a huge moneymaker for GMC. What we do know today is that there will also be Denali Edition 1 — similar to what the company did with Hummer EV version 1, it’s a fully loaded, limited edition model. In the small print at the end of one of the ads, GMC says the Sierra EV Edition 1 will only be available in early 2024 on pre-order; Regular denali is said to be available that spring.
Essentially, the Sierra EV will share core components with Chevy Silverado EV has been revealed. That suggests the GMC version will also offer an estimated 400-mile range, or 664 horsepower, and a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds. Pricing for the Silverado EV is expected to be somewhere between $40k and $105k, but we expect the Sierra version to be a bit more expensive.
As for the specs, we’ll have to wait until GMC officially reveals the full details before we know for sure. With the reveal less than a week away, we won’t have to wait long.
