Discover the full history of super giant games ‘Hades | Video games
We’ve emerged from the depths of the BioShock series to kick off a fresh season of Video Gameography! We’re doing things differently this time because we’re discussing a single developer’s game rather than including a series of individual games. That studio is Supergiant Games, the famous indie game developer of Bastion, Transistor, Pyre and Hades. This week, we wrap up our season by analyzing the Hades of 2020.
Unlike previous Supergiant Games titles, Hades has two release dates. Its first release came on December 6, 2018 when it launched in early access on PC, while the full game was available to play on September 17, 2020. Hades took everything. that the studio had learned up to this point and blended them into a rogue-lite ambition developed in a way the team had never experienced before: with the gaming public as it was being created. Watch this episode to learn the backstory of how Pyre’s massive cast of characters inspired the evolving story of Zagreus and his dystopian family, how the studio is gearing up to develop a counter game early and learn all about Greek mythology from our guest, the one-of-a-kind Jill Grodt.
Join host Marcus Stewart (@MarcusStewart7), John Carson (@John_Carson), with Game informant editorial collaborator Jill Grodt (@Finruin) for a walk through the history and narrative of Hades!
