LONDON – European stocks are expected to open Tuesday lower as US markets struggle to sustain a bounce back.
UK FTSE The index was seen opening 35 points lower at 7,468, in Germany DAX 47 points lower at 14,099, of France CAC 40 down 28 points at 6,310 and that of Italy FTSE MIB Down 168 points at 23,945, according to data from IG.
The negative European open is expected to come as global markets struggle to maintain momentum again after weeks of losses.
US futures fell in overnight trading On Monday, though stocks rallied across the states earlier in the session, with the Dow up 618 points, or nearly 2%, after a week of sharp declines. The S&P 500 rose 1.9% and the Nasdaq Composite added 1.6%.
European stocks also traded higher on Monday despite concerns about the global economy dominating market sentiment towards year-end. Asia – Pacific Market was subdued in Tuesday’s trading.
The World Economic Forum is taking place in Davos this week, bringing together political and business leaders from around the world. This year’s summit comes after a few years of the Covid-19 pandemic and against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is high on the agenda.
