Ex-Detroit Lions full-back Jessie Lemonier dies aged 25


Prior to Detroit lion pavers Jessie Lemonier died, the team confirmed on Thursday. He is 25 years old.

No details have been released about the cause of death.

Lemonier, who was Edited by Arlington Renegades of the XFL in November, instead, recently signed with the USFL’s Houston Gamblers for the upcoming season before being traded to the Birmingham Stallions.

He appeared in seven games with the Lions during the 2021 season, finishing with a total of 15 tackles and 1.5 tackles. He signed with Arizona Cardinals last summer and registered being fired in a pre-season game but was later released in training camp.

“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of former Detroit Lion Jessie Lemonier,” the Lions said in a statement. “Jessie was an exemplary teammate and a wonderful young man who passed away too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”

His agent, DEC Management’s Drew Smith, told ESPN that Lemonier and his girlfriend are expecting a baby.

Lemonier, a native of Hialeah, Florida, originally contracted with Los Angeles charger as an untrained free agent for Liberty in 2020. He acted in six games, making two tackles.
