Fashion visionary André Leon Talley dies at 73
Fashion idol André Leon Talley, a former editor of Vogue magazine, passed away at the age of 73.
Designer Diane von Furstenberg confirmed his passing in a posted tribute Instagram on January 18. She wrote, “No one sees the world in a more elegant and seductive way than you … no one has more soul and grandeur than you.”
DVF shared, “the world would be less joyful now,” adding, “I’ve loved you and laughed with you for 45 years… I will miss your loud shout and your loyal friendship.”
Based on TMZ, he died at a hospital in White Plains, New York. The cause of his death is unknown.
The former editor-in-chief earned a master’s degree from Brown University before taking the fashion industry by storm in the 1970s and 80s. In Vogue, he is quoted as saying, “I love people – it’s not fashion, it’s people in fashion that I love.”
