The year is 2022. EA is back with a nostalgic annual gift for Nintendo Switch owners. A backward future is (kindly?) closer than we think.
I can copy and paste my review like I did two years ago, but unlike some people at EA, I’m not very happy with the material reuse. Oops, I think that’s what I said last year. I struggle to care at this point.
For the fourth year in a row, EA Sports has released a virtually unchanged version of FIFA on the Nintendo Switch.
As stated on the official website, “FIFA 23 Legacy The version will feature the same gameplay innovation from FIFA 22 without any major new developments or improvements. “
As a reminder, here’s what was written there for last year’s game: “FIFA 22 Legacy Edition will feature the same gameplay innovation from FIFA 21 without any major new developments or improvements. any.”
Oh, and the year before: “FIFA 21 Legacy Edition will feature the same gameplay innovation from FIFA 20 without any major new developments or improvements.”
And to complete the set: “FIFA 20 Legacy Edition will feature the same gameplay innovation from FIFA 19 without any major new developments or improvements.”
And let me remind you that FIFA 19 on Switch isn’t really that great right from the start…
Due to the FIFA license moving from EA to the new mead next year, this will be the last EA game called FIFA to appear on the Nintendo console. What a sad legacy to leave.
Next year, we’ll likely read “EA Sports FC 24 Legacy Edition will feature the same gameplay innovation from FIFA 23 without any major new developments or improvements.”
Let’s hope for better.
