A state has reigned supreme in terms of music!
After representatives from all 50 states, four territories, and Washington DC compete for the chance to take the top spot in composition, American Song Contest the winner was finally selected on the May 9 episode.
The festival started with a performance by two hosts, Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg. Kelly performed “Whole Lotta Woman,” in honor of her Texas roots, and Snoop performed “Who Am I? (What’s My Name).”
But then it’s time to get down to business.
All ten finalists performed their original songs one last time — except for Washington’s song. Allen Stonewho couldn’t participate for “personal reasons” — in one last chance to get votes from the judges and viewers at home.
Voting was tabulated in real time throughout the show.
Highlights include Grammy Award winners Michael Bolton representing his home state of Connecticut with the song “Beautiful World” Voice winner Jordan Smith represented Kentucky with the ballad “Sparrow” and Tennessee country music Tyler BradenPerformance of “Seventeen.”
