Second choice 41-10, ANDTHEWINNERIS (c, 2, Oscar Performance–Run Like the Boss by Scat Daddy) circumnavigated the area and unleashed a powerful spin in the final bout to be the first winner for his Mill Ridge native freshman male (by The joy of kittens) in the fifth race at Keeneland. With no early pace, Andthewinner raced last but earliest and improved by a place when they got their turn. Moving gently inside the bend, he leaned heavily outwards to approach the extension and absorb the centerline down about four inwards to take it to a handy 2 3/4 length. The fiery-faced flyer achieved his final two stretches smoothly: 22.77, 0.72 seconds faster than any of his defeated opponents. Acquired for $67,000 in a September sale in Keeneland last year, Andthewinneris has a half-brother with Drag and a half-sister named Bonne Fille (Cupid). Four-time winner of the I Oscar Performance is on the cusp of the 2022 spawning season for a fee of $12,500 LFSN. Sales History: $67,000 RNA Ylg ’21 KEESEP. O/B-Susan Moulton (KY); T-Wayne Catalano.
