Petrol and diesel prices today: Petrol and diesel prices remained stable across metro cities on Tuesday, 11 January 2022. In December last year, Delhi government reduced value added tax (VAT) on petrol from 30% down to 19.40%. With this, the price of petrol in the national capital has fallen by Rs 8.56 per liter.
A liter of petrol costs Rs 95.41 in Delhi, while the price of diesel is at Rs 86.67 per liter. In Mumbai, petrol retails for Rs 109.98/litre, while diesel is sold for Rs 94.14/litre. State-run refiners such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum will adjust fuel prices on a daily basis, taking into account international crude oil prices and the US dollar exchange rate. Any changes in petrol and diesel prices will be made from 6:00 a.m. daily.
Globally, oil prices rose after two days of losses, with some risk appetite returning as the market awaited clues from the US Federal Reserve Chairman on potential interest rate hikes and as some Oil producers continue to struggle to increase output. Brent crude oil futures rose 26 cents, or 0.3%, to $81.13 a barrel, after falling 1% in the previous session. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil futures rose 30 cents, or 0.4%, to $78.53 a barrel, after falling 0.8 percent on Monday.
