Via Charles Brun: Tyson Fury can get 90 million USD for the match against Oleksandr Usyk in December in Saudi Arabia, according to Gareth A. Davies.
That figure is a far cry from the $120 million Fury is said to have asked for the Saudis in previous failed negotiations with IBF/WBA/WBO champion Usyk.
However, $90 million is a huge amount for a fighter like Mammoth fur is like Fury has to take it, as his fighting style is rather unsightly, mainly consisting of side punches, grappling, and batons to the back of the head.
By contrast, Usyk could get $50 million, and Anthony Joshua & Deontay Wilder both get $40 each, Davies said.
If the Saudis are willing to indulge Fury by giving him the bulk of the loot for the December card, they might inadvertently creating a spoiled brat that can’t be dealt with.
Giving Fury that powder will plant ideas in his head, making him believe he deserves it for every fight. When he doesn’t get it, he can throw a tantrum and lash out at the advertisers for not meeting his wallet needs.
Most likely, this will result in Fury being inactive for a long time, as he will be inactive, waiting to receive the same amount, which will only happen if he fights with Joshua or maybe Deontay if he wins against AJ in December.
When Fury fights normal opponents, the only way he’s going to get the money he wants is if he’s fighting one of the poor guys who didn’t deserve the title in the first place. In other words, some people have no talent.
Fury could earn $90 million for his fight with Usyk
“If it goes according to plan, it will be great. Of course it is. If they have that ambition, and they can do it, and I think they have $250 million to throw at it; something in that area,” Gareth A. Davies told iFL TV about Saudi Arabia’s giant card in December, with Anthony Joshua versus Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury versus Oleksandr Usyk.
“If you have all of those people in the ring, say $40 million each for Wilder and Joshua, say 80 million. There are numbers being put out about Fury wanting $120 million to fight in Saudi Arabia.
“I doubt he gets that much. I bet it will probably be more than half of that. Maybe 70-80 million, maybe 90. That’s incredible. USyk 50 million; he’s got a multi-battle deal with them [Skills Challenge Promotion] Currently. They won the first bid for Poland.
“Obviously, the Challenge of Skills will be behind that fight in Poland. It is very large. If they do, it will be extraordinary, and it will
something to celebrate, but you have to get all these people around the table and all egos satisfied, and all bank balances satisfied.
“If they can do it, great. They had money. They have ambition. I’m skeptical until it’s confirmed, but it’s a great thing to try.
“Fury wants the biggest fights; they’re talking Fury’s side, and you can’t disagree with them. You can see their point of view. Fury wants the biggest fights. That’s what he asked of them. Anthony Joshua is one of the biggest fights. Oleksandr Usyk is one of the biggest fights.
“Those are the two biggest wars, basically, aren’t they? Those were the biggest fights for Tyson Fury. Those are the only fights he needs to leave the league with his legacy of being the number one of this era, and we won’t see the undisputed title we’d like to see him up against Joshua.
“I hope both wars are done, but I will return to the three-pronged issue I spoke of. Ego, time and money – it’s all involved here. They may hate me or love me for what I say. It doesn’t make any difference. Believe what you know, not what you see in boxing,” said Gareth.
Big money is a curse
“I completely understand that they are in a bit of a situation. It doesn’t matter about the social media echo chamber and fans whining at Tyson Fury because he fought Chisora last year, and he hasn’t had a big fight in this year, and the fact that Usyk pulled out of that fight with Fury,” Gareth said.
“Like what people say about Fury, Fury pulled out of the fight on April 29. Yeah, the terms probably weren’t the best for you, Usyk, at the time, but he’s got his eye on this deal that just came out [from Skills Challenge Promotions]the reason we are talking today.
“He has his eye on this deal with the Saudis. Good luck to him. He has Poland where all his native people will support him because they are across the border because of the terrible things going on in Ukraine at the moment.
“The current weight class is not satisfactory. We want
to watch all these guys fight each other. We are starting to see it in other departments. Like I said, we just got there, George Warren said it, ‘A blessing and a curse.’
“That is. How lucky for all of these people to earn such extraordinary amounts of money. The show is enticing for all involved, but it’s a curse because they’re working towards that end goal, which is year-end battles worth a lot of money that they can’t get anywhere. and you can’t blame them either.
“They are looking for a fight for Tyson Fury in early September, and as Frank explained last night. They’ll be looking at the imperative for WBC, and then we’ll probably play Usyk at the end of December. Usyk obviously has to beat Daniel Dubois as well.
Frank Sanchez = option for Fury in September
“Yeah, but they’re not going to join that war, are they? because they’re looking to make Joshua and Wilder,” Gareth said when informed that Fury promoter Frank Warren wanted to go the WBC mandatory route for his September bout, and Deontay Wilder was ranked. rank #1.
“Obviously, the Saudis have spoken to Deontay Wilder and his team. Apparently, they talked to Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua, and he wanted that match against Wilder. It seems to be the fight where he will decide his future in so many ways.
“Andy Ruiz is number two, but I know he has some personal problems.
problem, so he can [not do it]. I don’t think it has anything to do with that. I think I talked to both George Warren and Frank Warren about this. Andy Ruiz simply wanted so much money that they negotiated, and he wanted in the area, I think, 19 to 20 million US dollars.
“If they were given a required quest, where Frank would meet Mauricio Suleiman, obviously if that was required, then Ruiz would have to take the quest. [WBC mandatory] divisive challenger. So that could be an option as I know he’s having personal issues at the moment.
“Number three is actually Anthony Joshua, but you know, he has other plans. Number four is Frank Sanchez. Well, maybe it would be Frank Sanchez. It could be Frank Sanchez. It’s good now. No problem with that. I hope they get Frank Sanchez. They won’t get Anthony Joshua,” Gareth said.
