I’m a bit late to hop on the bread pan train. And I don’t know why. One-pot meals, like soups or pizza stir-fries, are the best, so why aren’t pan meals just as great? I made a salmon and asparagus sautéed meal and then never had a second idea. Maybe life got in the way and I was pushed aside. It happened.

Anyway, I’ve been seeing this honey garlic kielbasa recipe floating around the internet for quite some time so I thought I’d give it a try. I tweaked it a bit to suit my taste and it resonated right away. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Why are pan meals so great?

I feel like I’m making the obvious here, but that’s because your entire meal is cooked in the oven at once on a baking sheet! Minimal fuss and effort, no wasted pan care on the stovetop, minimal cleanup. It is simply wonderful. Admittedly if your family is on the larger side like mine, two pans are necessary.

Another perk is that each pan meal is pretty much customizable in terms of the protein and veggies used. You can adjust it to suit your taste or just based on what vegetables you have on hand.

Important tips: When choosing vegetables, pay attention to how long they usually cook. If it’s a hard, dense vegetable like a potato, carrot or beetroot, you’ll need to cook it longer. If it’s a softer vegetable like bell peppers, onions, or broccoli, you may need to add it to the pan after the tougher vegetables have had some time to cook.

Also, most pan-fried meals are pretty healthy. They are usually just a protein and vegetable mix with seasonings. I don’t know about you all, but my family loves roasted vegetables. They like the crispy caramel around the outside combined with the soft filling. If I put a pan of baked sweet potatoes, season or French fries on the counter, they will snack all day.

Pan-fried Honey Garlic Sausage with Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Broccoli

For this recipe, you could use quite a bit of smoked sausage. Kielbasa was a bit manipulative so it worked well. And I bet it goes well with chicken too.

For the vegetables, I like to make sure I use a few different colors. I regularly use fresh sweet potatoes and broccoli and sometimes sliced ​​onions. Since sweet potatoes cook longer than broccoli and onions, I don’t add broccoli until later. But again, you can use ANY vegetables that you think are delicious.

Once you’ve picked your veggies, make a quick sauce with olive oil, honey, garlic, and Italian seasoning, and then coat the sausages. Coat the potatoes with olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper and place the pan in the oven. During the last few minutes of cooking, add the broccoli, toss with the oil and salt, brush the sausages with some sauce, and finish the dish. Serve and enjoy minimal cleanup!

Ingredient

  • 1½-2 lbs smoked sausage
  • 3 Medium sweet potato
  • 2 medium head broccoli
  • 3 TBSP olive oil share
  • first teaspoon Salt share

Tutorial

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.

  • In a small bowl, mix all the sauce ingredients together and set aside.

  • Cut the sausages into 2-2 ½ inch long pieces and place them on one end of the paper pan.

  • Brush about half of the honey/garlic sauce over the sliced ​​sausage.

  • Cut the sweet potatoes into 1/2 inch pieces and place them on the other end of the pan.

  • Coat the sweet potatoes with half of the olive oil, salt, and pepper and lightly coat to coat.

  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, cut the broccoli into florets.

  • After 15 minutes, remove the pan from the oven and coat the potatoes on top.

  • Put the broccoli in the pan.

  • Drizzle broccoli with remaining olive oil, salt and pepper and mix lightly.

  • Beat sausage with remaining honey/garlic sauce.

  • Return the pan to the oven and continue cooking for about 5-10 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

  • Serve immediately.

Note

You can use any vegetables you want for this recipe. If they are hard, dense vegetables like potatoes and carrots that take longer to cook, add them first. If they are softer root vegetables, like onions or bell peppers, add them later.
