Gennadiy Golovkin: Matchroom “thinks I’m weak. I don’t think so”

Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) doesn’t consider himself the underdog in this clash and he feels he will beat Canelo (57-2-2, 39 KOs).
If that’s the case, Golovkin will need to draw a more accurate conclusion than in the previous two games against Canelo.
It’s understandable why Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn considers Golovkin the underdog because that’s why bettors have it, and he hasn’t kept himself busy as much as Canelo.
Furthermore, the opponents Golovkin faced could not match those with whom Canelo had beaten one after another over the past four years. Canelo is younger, faster, more dynamic and has been playing better since 2018 than Golovkin.
“You stay in boxing while you still have the need. Of course, when there is an offer to fight,” Gennadiy Golovkin said Wednesday to media when asked if he will retire. “If the fourth war [with Canelo] offered, I would say, ‘Why not?’ If people want it. I retired three years ago. Right now, I’m here. “
If Golovkin doesn’t retire, boxing fans will want to see him fight David Benavidez and/or Jermall Charlo. Canelo didn’t show much desire to fight those guys.
“You talk to Matchroom too much. They think I’m an underdog. I don’t think so,” said Golovkin. “I believe in myself, I feel great, and I’m ready for the fight. Please don’t talk to Eddie Hearn about the war.
“It was a fascinating fight for a variety of reasons. One, Canelo Alvarez is about to lose, and he has a lot to show in this fight. Second, Gennadiy Golovkin is probably at the end of the dice to be undisputed, something he’s always dreamed of doing,” Hearn said. iFL TV.
“The first two games were horrible games, but I feel we will get the best match. Gennadiy Golovkin shared 24 innings with Canelo Alvarez. Some believe he won those matches. He knows how to fight Canelo Alvarez.
“I think at 168 it’s going to give him a much better shot than at 160 because making champion weight in 16 years it’s going to really help his engine. , which helps with his durability, and both have granite chins,” says Hearn.
