Via Brian Webber: Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis confirmed on social media today that his January 7 game against Hector Luis Garcia is still going for their game in Washington, DC.
Tank (27-0.25 KOs) and Hector Garcia (16-0, 10 KOs) will meet in the main event on Showtime PPV in a round 12 matchup on January 7 at Capitol One Arena.
After watching a head-to-head clip of Hector battling undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney in a leaked clip from a year ago, Gervonta cut his work in the fight against Garci because this guy can fight.
Earlier today, accuser Gervonta said this in part, “Gervonta did not harm me or our daughter.”
This is good news for Tank, Hector, Showtime, and especially the boxing world as it would be disappointing if Davis was drawn and substituted at the last minute.

Karen Chukhadzhian wasn’t a good enough opponent to include it in the main event to replace the Tank Davis vs Hector Garcia match if Showtime executives had pulled it due to Gervonta’s recent arrest.

Hopefully Tank Davis doesn’t get caught up in another family dispute over the next week before his fight with Hector Davis on January 7.
Gervonta needs this adjustment to see him prepare for his big fight with Ryan Garcia in April on Showtime PPV.
Ryan should have readjusted as well, but he chose not to take any chances and fumble with his bag because he might not get another chance like this.
