With a record of 7-6-1-0 since being imported from Ireland, and having surpassed some of these competitors before, Going Global (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}) was actually the beat in Sunday’s closing event at Santa Anita, GI American Oaks. US intern Phil D’Amato’s only attempt at runner-up came when she was beaten halfway at GII San Clemente S. by more than a mile Del Mar in July, but she came back. back with wins in those nine locations- GI Del Mar Oaks panel Aug. 21. Going Global earned her career-best 99 Beyer Speed Number thanks to her GII Goldikova S. win over older competitors in the one-mile at Del this past November 6. She’s never tried this 1/4 mile, but it looks like anyone can handle it. D’Amato will also rest assured for the heroine GIII Autumn Miss S. Burgoo Alley (Ire) (Footsteps and {GB}) for some partners like Going Global.
Coach Michael McCarthy has four out of 11 people in the field, and none will be a shock – especially at this distance. Katsumi Yoshida’s Nicest (Ire) (American pharoah) finished third on the G1 Juddmonte Irish Oaks team while under the care of Donnacha O’Brien, and finished fourth on the ground in Keeneland’s GI Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup S. before being transferred to McCarthy. She was beaten third by half length in the GIII Red Carpet 1/8 mile H. November 25 in Del Mar. Single Soul (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) broke her girlhood while walking this distance in New York, and was transferred from Graham Motion to McCarthy after finishing last out of five on the Red Carpet. Fees have been reduced (Lemon Drop Kid), the daughter of the MGSW Criminologist (Maria’s Mon), has stood on the board on three occasions against her elders.
