Google is working on a Digital Wellbeing widget that displays device time for Android users: Report
Google has been updating the home screen widgets of some of its apps like YouTube Music and Google Photos. In the latest update, its Digital Wellbeing app is said to receive a new widget. The new ‘your device time’ widget is supposed to show commonly used Android apps and time spent in each app. This add-on is said to be still in beta. The Digital Wellbeing Android app tracks the digital habits of smartphone users and allows them to set limits on the time they spend on different apps.
The addition of a Digital Wellbeing widget is spot by 9to5Google via a small APK package. The publication shared a screenshot of the new device time widget. With the widget, the user’s time using their phone will be displayed on the home screen of the phone. It will also show the most used apps of the day. According to the report, Digital Wellbeing version 1.0.416751293.beta shows a new widget. As mentioned, this extension is being tested and is currently inactive.
In the 2×1 configuration, the Digital Wellbeing widget is reported to only show total device time. As for the larger size, it is said to show the time spent in the top three apps. Digital Wellbeing’s device time widget is expected to be available for all Android phones.
Google in December, began adding new extensions to some of its apps including Google Photos, Google Play Books, and YouTube Music. The new one Google Photos The People and Pets Widget allows users to decorate their phone’s home screen with their closest and dearest photos. It can be done by selecting several faces and a frame. Music on YouTube updated with a Played recently widget for smartphones running on Android 12. The widget has play and pause controls as well as a like button. YouTube Music users can get this widget in three size options, depending on their home screen layout.
