Wordle has taken the Internet by storm, presenting a pleasant but equally formidable daily challenge to those forced to stay in their homes around the world due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. For those who don’t know, Wordle is a free game where you need to guess a secret five letter word in no more than six attempts. It can only be played on a dedicated website and you do not need to log in or register to play. Thanks to the open access and simplicity of the game, Wordle became an instant hit among netizens. So much so that Google has put up an easter egg on its search page.

When you search for “Wordle,” an easter egg will appear in the upper-left corner of the search results page. The Google logo there will be replaced with an animated GIF showing a six-letter word.
Words on the GIF appear with gray, yellow, and green boxes created by Wordle. Follow Wordle’s Rule, the gray boxes represent letters that are not part of the secret word of the day, the yellow boxes show the letters that are part of the word but are not in the correct order, and the green boxes show shows correctly placed letters.
On the GIF, the animation shows two wrong guesses – COLUMN and GOALIE – before filling in the last correct word, which turns out to be GOOGLE. We see what you did there, Google!
