In recent weeks, WB Games Montreal has shed new light on their upcoming Batman game without Batman, Knight of Gothamand some details make fans skeptical about the direction the game is going with Bruce Wayne’s survival Bat family. In a Q&A session at Knight of GothamOfficial ‘s Discord channelCreative director Patrick Redding addressed the backlash over the emotionless Batgirl bio, and provided details about Nightwing’s gliders and Red Hood’s new powers.

Redding went on to say that the team acknowledged the criticism and replaced the controversial description to read: “With extensive training and rehabilitation, she recovered from her injuries and returned active duty as Batgirl.”
Redding goes on to discuss the creative decisions behind Nightwing and Red Hood’s sideways abilities, primarily Nightwing’s Green Goblin-esque glider and Red Hood’s new jumping ability.
In the 13-minute gameplay demo, Nightwing is shown crossing rooftops with the help of a technological glider called the Flying Trapeze. Based on EurogamerNightwing’s Technical Roller Coaster is a retro reference to Batman’s classic Bat-glider. Redding said the creative team liked the idea of Grayson using one of Batman’s stealthy drones to gain more altitude to perform his death-defying acrobatics.
“[The Flying Trapeze is] designed to feel a bit impromptu and dependent on his extreme sportsmanship, which aligns with Nightwing’s approach to everything,” he said. “Flying it has a different feel to Batgirl’s cape glide, and it pairs really well with his larger jumps and parkour jumps, as well as with grappling.”
The strangest revelation in Knights of Gotham’ The gameplay trailer, for me at least, is Red Hood, aka Jason Todd, jumping through the skies of Gotham in an apparently supernatural fashion using his new ability, Mystical Leap. Redding said the development team was based on the origin story of the Red Hood – which involved the death at the hands of the Joker and the subsequent resurrection in Lazarus crater–As he approaches his new powers, it is intended that they will serve as an expression of Todd’s growth into his own.
“We really liked the idea that as Jason started to deal with the trauma of dying and being brought back, he started to be able to exploit some of the lost abilities,” said Redding. “In the same way that he tried to reinvent himself from anti-hero to hero while preserving his strengths, he discovered he could unleash these mystical talents in ways that he finds familiar: Through his physicality [and] in the way he moves, but also in the way he fights and even the way he uses his weapons. “
Redding explains Todd’s new abilities as “just one manifestation of those powers” he received after being revived in the Lazarus Pit. I just hope those powers include repairing my son’s skull so he doesn’t have it Lego’s skeletal structure.
