For his part, RBI governor Shaktikanta Das said that the issue of cryptocurrencies is being discussed internally between the central bank and the government.

Ms. Sitharaman, when presenting the budget on February 1, said that a digital currency that will be issued by the central bank in the next fiscal, will use blockchain technology.
