Government’s revised policy on international roaming SIM cards of foreign carriers

The telecommunications ministry has revised its policy on the issuance and renewal of no objection certificates (NOCs) for the sale or lease of international roaming SIM cards and global calling cards from foreign operators in India. Degree.
The revised policy requires NOC holders to provide information related to customer service, contact details, reporting matrix, itemized invoices, information regarding tariff packages as well. as services are provided.
The revised policy is intended to protect the interests of Indians traveling on board and also streamline procedures in line with other permits and registrations, the telecoms ministry said in a statement.
Provision has also been made to strengthen consumer complaints settlement and payment mechanisms to facilitate time-limited claim resolution by NOC holders with provision for appellate body in the department, it said.
The revised policy comes into effect from 14 January 2022 and it is formulated after taking into consideration the recommendations of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) regarding the sale or lease of international roaming SIM cards. , global calling cards of foreign operators in India.
