Grimes auctions off her Met Gala accessories to support Ukraine

Grimes is doing her part to support blacks, indigenous peoples and people of color in Ukraine by auctioning off some of her most memorable fashion accessories.
“I’m auctioning off things from my Met gala last year to raise money BIPOC families out of Ukraine because they have difficulty exiting at the border, “she shared in an Instagram post on May 16, adding that the auction on display at Los Angeles’ HVW8 Gallery includes “works by 50 elite artists in support of Emergency Response & BIPOC families at home and abroad.” Ukraine.”
Explaining that each work in the auction “offers a unique interpretation of the theme of ‘protest’,” Grimes donated a pair of ear cuffsDesigned by Romantic Elf Jewelry and chrome CHRISHABANA x Dune Harkonnen Mask.
The experimental musician put the pieces on Gala meet in 2021 back in September, with great cape Iris Van Herpen, for the event’s “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” theme. Her look — which one was inspired by the hit classic of 1984 Sand dunes (and redo next 2021) based Frank Herbert’s novel — also includes a replica of a medieval sword replaced from the Colt AR-15A3. However, this weapon is not being auctioned because it is a “fixture” in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
