Herbal homemade face oil

There are many retinol creams and conventional skin care products that promise better skin. But these often contain ingredients I don’t want on my face or in my body. This DIY herbal face oil has skin-soothing and anti-aging ingredients for great skin.

I am endowed with naturally oily skin that many of my relatives have. It was a terrible pain during my teenage years, but I say “lucky” because everyone in the family with that skin type has aged a lot. In fact, it was only recently after 6 kids and a lot of stress that I had dry skin or started to have wrinkles.

Many of my friends are switching to botox (the type of botox that makes me think because they look great without it). But not being one to spend money injecting “microbe toxin botulin” in my face with shivers, I wanted to find a natural way to remove wrinkles.

DIY face oil

This herbal face oil is great for the skin. It’s a bit expensive to do, though I guess it’s still cheaper than botulin injections. It smells incredible and works even better.

I only need one drop per day, so my little bottle will last about 6-8 months. And it’s the only face moisturizer I need. It took me a while to find my perfect skincare routine, but so far I’m really satisfied with this facial oil. Best facial oil ingredients

The special blend of oils in this formula is especially good for the skin. Another great thing about this recipe is that it only takes a few seconds to make. We only mix oils with other oils and do not need water or emulsifiers. Here’s a breakdown of the ingredients and why they’re so good for you.

argan oil

Traditionally, argan nuts are harvested from the droppings of goats gnawing on argan berries. Lucky for you, there are more modern harvesting methods out there! This liquid gold is great for problem skin or for general skin care. It helps moisturize the skin and protects from sun and wind damage.

Argan oil is also lightweight and easily absorbed deep into the skin. You’ll find vitamin E, antioxidant polyphenols, squalane, and carotenes. It calms inflammation, fights free radicals and helps us age gracefully.

If your skin is of the drier type, a heavier carrier oil may work better. Extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, or baobab oil are all good choices here. There are so many different options for aging or mature skin, just use what best suits your needs. You can even mix and match and use a blend of several carrier oils if you like.

Olive oil

Although it tastes great when mixed with salads, olive oil is often used for skin care. This oil is a major source of squalane, a lipid that our skin cells make. Olives moisturize and soothe damaged skin and act as a humectant to protect the skin barrier.

Avocado oil

This nutrient-rich oil with vitamins A, B and E is a popular choice for skin care. It adds collagen to the skin to help prevent age spots and calm inflammation. It firms and improves skin tone. It is also great for softening scaly skin. Avocado oil is pressed from the fleshy fruit, while avocado seed oil comes from the seeds (and isn’t too tasty). Both are good for skin care.

Baobab Oil

Improves elasticity and supports collagen health. This oil soothes damaged skin and also helps reduce breakouts, acne-prone skin and rosacea. It regenerates, moisturizes and softens the skin. It has a blend of fatty acids, mainly oleic and linoleic fatty acids.

Rosehip seed oil

I love adding vitamin C-rich cold-pressed rosehip oil to anti-aging skin care products. This is one of the only drying oils that are good for oily skin. Even if you have dry or combination skin, it works great in any anti-aging blend. You only need to add a small amount with another carrier oil. Evening Primrose Oil

High in GLA fatty acids, evening primrose is good for eczema. GLA also reduces inflammation and supports healthy hormone balance. I don’t necessarily use this carrier oil alone, but it works well when mixed with another oil like olive, jojoba or argan. It’s a little heavier and too much can clog pores. Some dermatologists recommend against using it on overly oily or acne-prone skin.

The best essential oils for face oils

There are a lot of good botanicals out there, but some essential oils really stand out when it comes to skin care.

If you are looking for a natural, anti-aging and smoothing facial serum or oil, then give this one a try! It brightens the skin, is good for sensitive and dry skin, and leaves the skin feeling great. Although these are more expensive oils, they last a long time when diluted. And I use them in other recipes to get the most out of my purchase.

• Rose Rose water not only soothes the heart in times of grief, but also soothes damaged skin.
• Frankincense – I include this essential oil in my gold, frankincense and myrrh lotion bars. It is great for scars, stretch marks and irritated skin. Studies have looked at frankincense’s ability to soothe inflammation and repair damaged skin. In a 2010 trial, frankincense extract significantly improved skin smoothness and wrinkles in women taking pictures.
• Myrrh – A very thick oil distilled from the sap of a tree and has an earthy odor. It has been used in wound care for centuries. Myrrh is naturally antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory. Scientists continue to explore its use in infections and wound care, as is the case with sepsis.
• lavender The most economical of the bunch, lavender is one of the world’s most popular essential oils. It soothes and calms and helps repair damaged skin. It is antibacterial, good for acne, oily skin and damaged skin in general.

How to use face oil

I keep it by the bathroom sink and use a drop after my oil cleansing routine at night. Sometimes I will use it after washing my face with honey in the morning. It smells incredible and I love smelling the essential oils when I go to bed or work in the morning.

Since I use cleansing oil and my face was somewhat moisturized before applying this, I can use 1-2 drops. If you’re using a soap-based cleanser, those dry areas will produce more, so you’ll probably need to apply more oil on your face than I did.

Guide

• Add essential oils to the bottle.

• Add carrier oil(s) to bottle until almost full. Make sure to leave room for the dropper or pump cap!

• Shake well to combine.

Note

Warehouse: Store in a cool, dark place, away from direct light and heat.
Expiry: The oil will go rancid after about 6-18 months. Facial oils will last as long as the shelf life of the carrier oil used.
