Oh, hello. I don’t think we’ve met. My name is Ashley, and I Kotakuwriter’s newest staff, where I’ll focus on tips and tutorials. Did you not read the title? It’s okay, I forgive you.

Before doing this, I worked at Inverse as a science and technology newsletter writer and wrote a column about women and video games for Destructoid. I also freelanced everywhere for two years, cataloging weird articles on the internet, including one about robot relationship abuse because the Futurism, play the weird TikTok game because the The Vergeand Medieval feminism because the Bitch.

You’re probably thinking to yourself now: “Wow, this girl sure is silly and funny with a lot of interests, even though she seems to focus on culture and technology.” Yes, that’s right. I love to wriggle into every weird video game, tech, and social network the rabbit hole sends me.

You may know that this is my first time writing for Kotaku (although I’ve been reading the site since I was a little Ashley), and it’s also the first time I’ve written specific tips and tutorials (although I live inside a user-updated site) Elden Ring map on Fextralife). That said, my previous experience and existing interests have given me a lot of energy and lots of ideas that I can’t wait to share with you.

In everything I’ve ever written, my primary goals have always been to entertain, inform, and do work imbued with a spirit of humility. Those qualities become doubly important in service journalism, so I can promise you I will never try to embarrass you or encourage you to “do it well.”

Speaking of which, I love video games, but I consider myself a perfectly suited video game player. Instead of an almighty number Kotaku Lord of Games, as scary as it sounds, you can instead think of me as the friend in Discord you turn to for helpful advice. I want to help you discover video games and enjoy the full potential of this art form.

For that reason, while I will absolutely be writing more standard tutorials on topics like boss battles, farming routes, and the most creative loot, I also hope to expand the scope of these tutorials. article about video game service.

I like video games, but I also like chick movies, Phoebe Bridgers and watching Bachelor until my eyes bleed. I often find it frustrating when parts of the video game service appear to favor a particular type of player — experienced, white, male, straight — when me and the so-called non-traditional gamers. Other systems have nowhere to discover which video games would make us feel like genderless additions on the planet. Bridgertonor whatever.

So you can expect me to write about crap (really just crap that everyone likes but isn’t allowed to) and other stuff that I think the rest of the gaming community isn’t. Caucasian, not my male wants to know. Finally, I’m ready to change the way players help other players, and I want you to come with me.
