Films with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information revealed the exterior of the next generation Honda CR-VA.
While there may be minor changes for other markets, we expect the car seen here to be indicative of one that will go on sale globally.
If there’s one constant about Honda’s design direction, it’s that it often swings between radical and conservative, and bounces back from generation to generation.
We recently saw this game play with civicremoved numerous false air intakes and vents for a more classy approach, while HR VUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU unlike a crossover coupe and more than an ordinary crossover.
These images are from the Ministry of Industry and Information along with patent file discovered in February of this year.
The front of the new CR-V has a deep rectangular grille with apartment-sized Honda badging. A chrome bar runs across the front end and through the slim headlights.
Unlike many other brands, Honda has so far avoided the temptation to join the fleet of split headlights, and a simple, almost plain front bumper.
Along the side there are flatter surfaces and a sharp shoulder line runs the length of the car. While the silhouette looks the same as before, the details, especially around the taillights and window graphics make the car appear more upright and formal.
At the rear, the CR-V continues to feature hockey stick-shaped taillights, although they don’t seem to extend prominently into the bodywork.
This new generation also lacks the prominent chrome strip of the current car that runs across the tailgate. The license plate holder has moved from the bottom to the middle of the raised door.
The car in the photo wears the Turbo badge on the back and according to the company’s paperwork is due to 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine do 142kW.
Connected to a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT), the turbo can be specified with front- or all-wheel drive.
A 2.0-liter hybrid, which is expected to closely resemble the existing overseas setup, will be the only powertrain offered in Europe. The current system develops a total of 158kW and 315Nm.
Going further, the CR-V will also be available with a plug-in hybrid system.
In China, new CR-V measures Length 4703mm, Width 1866mm, 1690mm . highand ride on a Wheelbase 2700mm.
This means it’s 68mm longer, 11mm wider, 11mm taller and has a 40mm longer wheelbase than the current car. For the Chinese market, the new CR-V will be available with 5 or 7 seats.
