“I’ll Call Gervonta Davis Back”
Via Allan Fox: Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero believes his supporters will give him a rematch with Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis again following a May 28 loss to the ‘regular’ WBA lightweight champion.
Rolly (14-1, 12 KOs) believes a sixth-round knock-out loss to Tank Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) has made him a “pay-per-view star” and fan base Boxing fans will continue to want to see him on PPV.
For the record, Rolly, 26, was included as a B-side opponent for Tank Davis during their match on Showtime PPV on May 28 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Tanks bought and sold ticket for that match. In other words, Rolly was not the one to hold the draw.
Whether or not Rolly has a chance to rematch Tank Davis will depend on whether the Baltimore-born player rematches Mayweather Promotions for one more time and if Rolando proves that he is the “.pay-per-view starIn his subsequent battles.
“You don’t see it from my point of view. I am the most demanding person in this sport”Rolly Romero said this week on Social media in damage control mode after a loss to the Davis Tank.
It’s unlikely kt Rolly’s fights could sell on Showtime PPV if he continues to raise his record with the feeble opposition he faced before his promoters at Mayweather Promotions fought him against Gervonta.
kt Rolly’s five fights before facing Tank Davis:
- Anthony Yigit
- Avery Sparrow
- Jackson Marinez
- Arturs Ahmetovs
- Juan Carlos Cordones
It’s clear that when looking at those fighters, Mayweather Promotions inflated Rolly Romero’s record in forage level confrontation to make him look better than he really is.
It’s like an NFL team going against teams with a 4-12 record. When you’re playing against a mid laner, it’s easy to see.
Unless Mayweather Promotions is desperate to knock out a Tank Davis vs. Rolly Romero down the throats of fans, whether they care or not, Rolando will have to have some quality wins over top tier opponents for Rolando to land his second game against Gervonta.
Good choice for kt Rolly to rematch with Tank
- Jeremiah Nakathilia
- Michel Rivera
- Vasyl Lomachenko
- Ryan Garcia
- Oscar Valdez
- Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz
- Jamaine Ortiz
Unfortunately, this writer can’t see kt Rolly defeat ANY of those fighters, not one, but that may not stop Mayweather Promotions from setting up a rematch with Tank.
Their barn doesn’t have a lot of names, and given the way they like internal teamfights, it’s reasonable to assume we’ll see a rematch between Tank and Rolly in the bot lane.
“I’ll see Gervonta Davis again,” Rolly said. “I knew that. That will happen again.
“I’ve learned. I’m paying per star. I’ve taken risks that other moms wouldn’t take,” says Rollly.
“I don’t think people deserve a rematch when they’re eliminated like that,” said Gervonta Davis when asked about giving Rolly a rematch.
