Indian PC market to hit record 14.8 million shipments in 2021, up 44.5% YoY: IDC
HP maintains its lead in the general PC category in 2021 in India with over 1.3 million units shipped in Q4 (Q4 2021), according to an IDC report. According to the report, this supplier has a market share of 31.5% and their shipments have increased by 58.7% in the last year. Meanwhile, the PC market remains optimistic with vendors shipping an impressive 14.8 million PC models in 2021, driven by demand for remote work and better supply. Laptops hit 11.6 million units and are still the main driver while desktops are up 30% year-over-year compared to 2020.
According to a report by International Data Corporation (IDC), while HP is the overall market leader in PC shipments in India, Dell came in second with 23.6% market share as it shipped more than 1 million units for the second consecutive quarter in Q4 2021. Dell led the enterprise segment with 38%, driven by growing demand from IT and ITES (Information Technology Enabled Services) and the company’s global accounts, according to the report.
Lenovo came in third place, both in the fourth quarter of 2021 and in calendar year 2021, with a growth of 22.8% year-on-year. According to IDC’s report, thanks to the demand from the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) segment, Lenovo is in second place, behind HP with 24.7% market share.
In fourth and fifth place are Cherry and Asus, both maintained their positions with market shares of 8.2 and 5.9% respectively. Acer is one of the main beneficiaries of the recovery of the desktop category, according to the report. It holds second place behind HP in the commercial segment with a 25.8% market share, thanks to Acer’s commercial desktop business. Meanwhile, Asus grew 36.1% year-on-year in 2021, encroaching on the commercial segment with a whopping 227.2% year-on-year growth, according to a report by the company. IDC.
