India’s rice exports more than doubled under Modi government: Piyush Goyal
Piyush Goyal, Minister of Trade and Industry, wrote on Twitter on Sunday.
In a tweet, Mr. Goyal said, “Indian rice exports posted an amazing 109% growth.”
The policies of the Narendra Modi government help farmers access global markets and ensure food security, he added.
He tweeted the rice export figures in a photo titled “INDIA IS THE WORLD’S RICE HOLDER.”
The photo shows rice exports, excluding Basmati, valued at $2,925 million in the 2013-14 fiscal year and it has accumulated 109% since then to $6,115 million in the 2021-22 fiscal year.
Additionally, a note by the Ministry of Agriculture showed that rice exports increased by 9.24% in the 2021-22 financial year, with rice exports reaching 102% of the total target for the year.
