Is Terence Crawford using Spence’s name to promote Avanesyan’s fight on PPV?
Via Chris Williams: Terence Crawford is doing a great job promoting his December 10 match against David Avanesyan by frequently mentioning Errol Spence’s name to generate interest in the BLK Prime pay-per-view match.
What better way to generate interest in Avanesyan (29-3-1, 17 KOs) than using Spence’s name constantly to make people think of that person?
Whether intentional or not on Crawford’s side, it’s an ingenious way to get both casual and heavyweight boxing fans interested in wanting to see him defend the WBO welterweight title against little-known Avanesyan. learned on December 10 at the CHI Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
“There’s no reason to talk to him,” Terence Crawford told DAZN Boxing Show about Errol Spence when asked if he would talk to him because he bailed on their negotiations.
“I’ve been talking to them since June, July,“Crawford talks about BLK Prime. “We have never had negotiations. We just talk and get to know each other. When they told me they wanted to do something, I said, ‘This is my main priority, my top priority.’
“I won’t go into the details of who and what that is,” Crawford said of the company that offered $50 million for his fight with Spence.
“I told him on FaceTime, and not once did he say, ‘Who are hedge funds? Where’s the money? ‘ Never in a million years has he asked such questions. It’s the water under the bridge.
“At some point, you get tired of it. You put everything in it and get nothing out of it, and everyone is blaming you,” Crawford said of the fight with Spence.
“Either I do, or I don’t, I’m still the one to blame. I’m a bit disappointed with the way the negotiations are going with me and Errol Spence. Of course, they will try to create shade for [Avanesyan fight].
“This guy I’m fighting is a real guy. He’s a real challenger. He is dangerous because he has everything to win. Those who have nothing to lose are the hardest battles.
“There’s a reason why so many people turned down this guy and didn’t want to fight him and he didn’t get shot,” Crawford said of Avanesyan.
“I worked really hard like everyone else. I don’t take anyone lightly. On December 10, I’ll be looking to put on a show like I’ve done before,” Crawford said.
