Jack Dorsey, Twitter co-founder and present Block head, weighed in on how he feels about Elon Musk buying Twitter. In one tweet thread Beginning with a link to Radiohead’s “Everything’s in place,” Dorsey said that “I don’t believe in principle that anyone should own or operate Twitter. It wants to be a public good at the protocol level, not a company. However, solving its problem is a company, Elon is the only solution that I believe in. I trust his mission to expand the light of consciousness.”

Earlier in the thread, he said that “Twitter is the closest thing we have to global consciousness.” Over the past month, a good part of the “global consciousness” has wondered if Musk will actually buy the company. Before yesterday’s confirmation, there was a time (i.e. a couple of weeks ago) when it seemed like a far-fetched idea.
Musk bought 9.2% of Twitter on April 4. Then 10 days later, he offered to buy Twitter for $42 billion, but was turned down the next day. But reports surfaced on Monday that Twitter was close to reaching an agreement with Musk and that the company had officially announced that it had accepted. $44 billion acquisition offer from Musk yesterday.
